Join us in Brussels for the Gray Scott School 2025!

🚀 EuroCC Belgium hosts a Brussels satellite site for the Gray Scott School 2025
EuroCC Belgium is pleased to announce its participation in the Gray Scott School 2025, an advanced-level European summer school dedicated to high-performance computing (HPC) and programming on heterogeneous architectures (CPU, GPU, accelerator-based). This unique training event will take place from June 23 to July 4, and will be accessible from Brussels via a dedicated satellite site.
🧪 A European summer school for next-generation scientific computing
The Gray Scott School is a high-level, hands-on training programme for researchers, students, and engineers aiming to develop their skills in modern computing techniques. Participants will explore advanced programming languages and tools such as C++17/20, CUDA, SYCL, Fortran, Rust, Python, Julia, and profiling tools including Valgrind, Perf, NSight, NumaProf, and more.
At the core of the school lies the Gray-Scott reaction-diffusion model, which serves as a computational and conceptual thread throughout the programme. By building and optimizing simulations of this model, learners discover how to apply diverse tools and approaches across heterogeneous computing architectures.
This initiative is coordinated by the French National Competence Centre (CC-FR) in collaboration with the Laboratoire d’Annecy de Physique des Particules (LAPP) — a CNRS/IN2P3 lab with strong expertise in experimental and computational physics — and supported by the ESCAPE project.
📍 The Brussels satellite site: learn locally, engage globally
To make this European training more accessible, EuroCC Belgium will host a satellite site in Brussels, offering live participation in the school’s activities, along with on-site support and opportunities for local networking. The program will be delivered in hybrid format, combining real-time lectures from Annecy with in-person collaboration.
- Week 1 (June 23–27): Hosted at the FWO (Research Foundation – Flanders), located at Rue de Louvain / Leuvenstraat 38, 1000 Brussels, near Brussels Central Station.
- Week 2 (June 30–July 4): Held at the Belpaire Building, Boulevard Simon Bolivar / Simon Bolivarlaan 17, 1000 Brussels, close to Brussels North Station.
Both venues have been carefully selected to ensure easy access from across Belgium, whether by train, metro or other public transport.
The school is free of charge, but registration is mandatory and places are limited. Lunches will be provided. A more detailed programme for the Brussels site is currently under consideration and will be shared with registered participants. Precise location details for individual sessions will also be communicated directly to registrants.
🔬 For whom?
This programme is best suited for participants with existing experience in scientific computing or programming, looking to deepen their understanding of performance optimization, parallelism, and modern computing environments. Whether you’re from academia, research infrastructure, or industry, this is an opportunity to join a cutting-edge European training network.
