Get started with Quantum Computing by NCC France and Belgium

Flyer Quantum computing training

A two-day training session entitled “Get Started with Quantum Computing” will be organized on 28–29 April (09:00–17:00) at the University of Namur, Faculty of Sciences (Room S09). This event is organized in collaboration between NCC Belgium and NCC France within the framework of the EuroCC network, with the support of the Vlaams supercomputercentrum (VSC) and the Consortium des Équipements de Calcul Intensif (CÉCI).

The training aims to introduce participants to the fundamental concepts of quantum computing and to provide a first practical experience with quantum programming. The programme includes:

Short state of the art – “A Quantum of Quantum Computing”

  • What is quantum computing?
  • A brief historical overview
  • Quantum states
  • Qubits, superposition, entanglement, measurement and decoherence
  • Computing with qubits

Introduction to quantum computing

  • Refresher on the fundamentals of quantum mechanics
  • Quantum versus classical computing
  • Quantum gates: theory and practical aspects
  • Hands-on session: participants will code their first quantum program (EPR pair) and explore additional examples.

A short reception will be held on the 29th in the evening to encourage informal discussion with the speakers and between participants.

The training is primarily intended for PhD students, researchers and engineers in chemistry, physics, and computer science who wish to develop or strengthen their knowledge in quantum technologies. It will also provide an opportunity to interact with experts and engage with the French-Belgian quantum and high-performance computing ecosystem.

Participation is free of charge, but the number of participants is limited and registration is required via the following link:
